my abortion

When given the opportunity to create a film for my final dissertation I knew it would have to be around a topic I felt very passionate about. I took a while drifting between ideas that I was somewhat intrigued with but nothing that gave me the feeling of wanting to pursue further. That was until the obvious answer hit me, the abortion I had in March 2016 was a difficult and long journey that has changed who am I permanently, and yet it was a subject I am so passionate about. I wanted to share my story in the hopes of breaking the stigma around the topic. I have found when I talk about it with friends or family now, even years after the abortion most people still squirm around the topic and don't know how to handle talking openly about it with me. Abortion is something that 1 in 3 women in the UK go through so why is it such an unacceptable topic? Why is it so hard to talk about? Why should I not talk about something that I am proud of?
